BUILDTOPIA CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE OVERVIEW

Buildtopia was founded in 1999 by a group of homebuilders looking for construction project management software that would utilize the benefits of the Internet. Today the company operates in Rockville, Md. and provides Web-based project management software for residential builders. Buildtopia's software solutions are available in two standalone products, BTSales and BTService, or an all-in-one software package, BTBuilder.

BTSales is a CRM system designed for the residential construction industry, with functionality specific to sales and marketing, construction scheduling and project management, business reporting and document management. The sales and marketing tool lets users manage an options library, sales reports, margin reports, selection processes and homebuyers' preferences. A customization module can outline the requirements for customization requests, manager approval, complete construction estimates, and can add common customizations to an options catalog. Within this system, the construction scheduling and project management function is accessible on smartphones and PDAs and also controls trade partner access, schedule maintenance and integrated payment approval. Buildtopia's on-demand reporting creates formatted reports, generates data fields and summarizes or filters data -- all of which can be saved or exported to Microsoft Excel.

BTService is designed to control customer service and warranty management. This Web-based project management software providing punchlists and walkthroughs, service request tracking, custom workflow support, back-charge ability, emails to homeowners and online trade partner access. Defect analysis also ensures construction quality by recording defect on any punchlist item. Business reporting and document management functions are also part of BTService. The software can be upgraded to an enterprise system, allowing all business departments to be integrated.

BTBuilder contains all the functionality found in BTSales and BTService. It also incorporates BTAccounting, which is designed to interface with existing contractor accounting software and which is available in a Microsoft Dynamic Edition and an Intuit Quickbooks Edition. Other supported job cost software programs include Sage Timberline Office, TOM, MAS90, NetSuite and Foundation.
