SharpeSoft Estimator User Review

Review Summary
Programs such as SharpeSoft can take the uncertainty and second guessing out of construction cost estimating and job costing.
Wally Clayton, vice president of Pivetta Brothers Construction Inc., has been using SharpeSoft products for four years and is currently running the 2009 versions of SharpeSoft Estimator and SharpeSoft Field Reporter. Previously, this heavy civil contractor was using Construction Link but found SharpeSoft to be more user friendly and detailed. It also has allowed them to prepare more bids, he said.
“I like the fact that we can alter any given set of parameters to set markups, last-minute cuts, etc. It provides a great deal of flexibility and makes closing out a bid pretty simple and stress free,” Clayton said.
Though Pivetta Brothers is still learning some of the more advanced features, Clayton said it has so far been easy to learn and that SharpeSoft’s support has always been very helpful.
Overall, Clayton rated SharpeSoft Estimator and SharpeSoft Field Reporter an 8 out of 10. “Because it’s very flexible and can handle complex bids as well as simple bids. I’d recommend it to any contractor,” he said.

Four years.
We are a heavy civil contractor.
We purchased the products directly from SharpeSoft.
It is pretty user friendly and very detailed.
Yes.
We were using Construction Link.
Just one.
SharpeSoft allows us to prepare more bids.
I like the fact that we can alter any given set of parameters to set markups, last-minute cuts, etc. SharpeSoft provides a great deal of flexibility and makes closing out a bid pretty simple and stress-free.
This heavy construction estimating software eliminates the need for us to use a second estimator.
We’re still learning to use all the elements of this heavy construction estimating software.
There are very few things that we would change -- and when we do need something addressed, Sharpesoft is there to help us.
Right now we are not using many of SharpeSoft's advanced features, but they are being added to our feature set as we grow into this heavy construction estimating software.
Because it’s very flexible and can handle complex bids as well as simple bids, I’d recommend SharpeSoft to any contractor.
Basic computer skills plus some tutoring.
No. It was very similar to Construction Link. Most of the learning curve was dedicated to setting up the program for equipment and labor categories/rates.
We have called support many times and have had a very positive experience. The folks at SharpeSoft go out of their way to help fix problems or lead you to the proper path.
It’s mostly online and it’s like most online tutorials. It's not a lot of help.
Absolutely.
