Procore Software Review: Space Designs UK

Review Summary
"Procore is an excellent and well-designed product for the construction industry," noted Amos Manasseh of Space Designs UK. "It presents a quite sophisticated set of functionality in a very user friendly way. Whereas there are several similar products in the marketplace, nothing gets close in terms of the balance of functionality against ease of use. The Procore interface is so well laid out that anyone who can use a webmail service can use the system with little or no training. Indeed, one of the biggest failings of so-called "more sophisticated systems" is that they require a huge amount of time to learn and equal amounts of time to get anything out of them. The Procore Technologies team is also incredibly receptive to input from us and responds fast to all queries -- often implementing genuinely good ideas within days. My hope is that the product remains this simple with new functionality implemented only after careful consideration."

Less than six months.
High-end domestic refurbishment.
From a Procore sales representative.
Every day before work and after work, I have several interactions with Procore through mobile and PC e-mail clients. During the day I respond to communication threads generated from the system.
Nothing gets close to Procore in terms of ease of use, cost and functionality.
Yes.
Yes.
More than 10.
Key data is centralized for those who need it; this was hard to do before. Key communications are logged centrally; this was impossible to do before. Tracking ongoing tasks, as well as multiple projects, has become much easier; this was very hard with multiple stakeholders. Sending reminders to multiple stakeholders on multiple projects is way easier than before, too. Finally, if someone cannot or will not use Procore software, it is still possible to use old methodology for the job.
It makes a difference on all jobs. However, jobs where there is a lot of indecision by the client or not enough information from the architect become much easier to manage with Procore both in terms of squeezing out the information and tracking the budget changes.
We will be able to handle more jobs, which means more profit. Our foremen can do more tasks for us, our daily reporting is better and our interaction with key stakeholders is more organized, which means less time is wasted chasing people.
They are all brilliant, but the real killer features are the following:
- The ability to respond to communications and RFIs through a normal e-mail client
- Threaded Communications with automated reminders where required
- RFIs
- Change Orders
- Transmittals
- Meetings
- Calendars that use a particular project as the master
I would like to add the following features to Procore:
- Creating and tracking purchase orders / deliveries
- PDF reports based on filtered results
- Company logo on PDF reports
- Web-based budget tracking
- Web-based time sheets for in-house labor and employees; these sheets would then be linked to daily reports
- an Employee Portal with calendar, tasks, payroll / personnel information and communications, including SMS communications for instructions and/or company messages
- Separate mail folder / logging area for all 'system' communications, which are responded to via an e-mail client but which are not threaded in the system.
Submittals, but this is purely because I am not sure how to use them the way we currently work. If the different stakeholders were all optional, then it may be easier to use
Regular webmail usage is enough experience.
I only needed one run-through to get started. If you have a genuine need you will learn super fast. If you are less interested or ambivalent (e.g. an architect stuck in the old ways), then it may take longer.
The Procore Technologies support staff is great. There have been some bugs, which have been fixed really fast, and also there were one or two concepts that, while simple (and radical), I did not fully grasp at the beginning
Video Tuition is king.
10.
