Full Review

How long have you been using this tool?:

About two years.

What kinds of construction projects do you mostly work on?:

Major commercial contracts.

Where did you obtain it?:

Through a Procore Technologies sales representative.

How are you using this product?:

Currently 50% of our projects are managed through Procore software.

Why did you pick this product?:

Many reasons:

  • It is a Web-based application, so all our resources can access one point for information
  • Unlimited users
  • Unlimited file storage
  • Integration with Microsoft Project (this is big)
  • Filed logs
  • Reply emails from Microsoft Outlook or BlackBerrys are captured by Procore
  • Customer support was very strong from day one
  • Basic user interface is easy; you can be productive with Procore software the first day
  • All contract information is in one location
  • Notifications for overdue RFI's, submittals, etc.
Was this product compatible with the software programs you were already using?:

Yes.

Before you bought this product, were you using a different one to do the same job? :

Yes.

How many people are using this software? :

More than 10.

Comparing the way you work now with the way you worked before you bought this tool, what has changed? :

We are still in a transition stage, due to the duration of our contracts. Project that we've started in Procore are much more organized. With all information being in one location, it's now much easier for us to process information and to drive our contracts to schedule.

Can you give us an example of a job where this tool really made a difference?:

The San Rafael Corporate Center is a project that has been 100% managed through Procore. This contract is for two buildings and our scope of work represents about $3 million in revenue.

Can you estimate how much time or money you saved or other measurable benefits your firm realized using this tool?:

I can't say you save time "using" Procore software. Procore's features are based on the core fundamentals of construction project management, and these fundamentals must be followed regardless of your management tool. Administratively across the enterprise, you save time using Procore because all project information is organized and in one central location. Without calling a meeting, field crews can review a project's construction schedule for a one-week look-ahead and be prepared.

What are the best features (for your business) in this tool?:

Integration with Microsoft Project, communications, RFI logs and submittal logs.

What would you change about the product if you could?:

I would suggest two user interfaces -- one for general contractors and a second for subcontractors. Since we are subcontractors, our administrative management path is different than general contractors and I believe this would beneficial. Also a simple Change Order Log is needed. I would like to see improved reporting for log items such as daily field notes, phone call logs, etc. Currently it's difficult to see logged information.

Are there features that you don't use?:

We do not use the Change Order feature, as our process doesn't really work with Procore.

Who would you recommend use this tool?:

Any construction company would benefit from the use of Procore software.

How much computer experience do you think someone needs to use this tool effectively?:

Using the tool is a snap. If you are an experienced construction project manager, you only need basic Internet computer experience.

Did it take much training (or studying) to learn to use this tool?:

No, very little. Most of the energy I've spent is getting others to jump on board and use the tool. No matter how efficient a tool is, it can be difficult for people to change from old ways of doing things.

Have you ever called the company's support lines and asked for help?:

Yes, many times. I give customer support a 10 out of 10. They rock.

How would you rate the user documentation? :

Excellent.

When the next version of this software comes out, will you upgrade to it?:

10.
