Procore Software Review: Associated Pacific

Review Summary
Associated Pacific Constructors depends extensively on Procore Technologies' construction project management software to keep contracts running on budget and on time.
The company had been using Meridian Prolog and found that software to have a steep learning curve, which made it hard to use. Procore, however, speedily delivered on its promises, said Associated Pacific Constructors' Joe Patterson, who noted that communication and turnaround time have been dramatically shortened.
"I save about two hours of my day when I am pushing through RFIs and submittals. Also, the change order process is very fast and it helps me stay on top of what items are still overdue," he said. "That helps remind me of what money I still need to collect."
As such, Procore helps the construction firm get paid faster -- a boon to any business in any economy.
Little formal training was required. "I use almost every tab. I mostly use the RFI (request for information), submittal log, communication, change order log, daily log, calendar, images, documents, directory and administrative tabs," said Patterson. "I have figured out how to use most everything."
Full Review
We've been using Procore for less than six months.
We do marine construction, which consists of pile driving, marine oil platforms and pipeline, underwater cables, marine structure inspections, steel and timber, as well as concrete wharf, pier and harbor projects.
We bought it through a Procore Technologies sales representative.
We pay approximately $600 per month per project. We'd like to pay less.
I use almost every tab. In fact, I use Procore daily and think it is a great product. I mostly use the RFI (request for information), submittal log, communication, change order log, daily log, calendar, images, documents, directory and administrative tabs. I have figured out how to use most everything.
It has everything needed to manage both large and small jobs without too much fluff. I used to use Meridian Prolog, which was a nightmare unless you are a software programmer, which I am not.
Yes.
We needed software that was easy to use and didn't require a long time for people get up and running.
Yes. I was using Meridian Prolog, which was far too complicated for non-IT experts.
More than 10 people at Associated Pacific Constructors are using Procore today.
I don't have to take forever to save electronic versions of my RFIs and submittals. Getting approvals from the architect and engineer is very easy now, compared with the way we used to do it.
I am currently building a seawall in Monterey, Calif. The architect, engineer, client, subcontractors and some suppliers are using Procore for communication and submittals. The late RFI notifications really get approvals quickly, speeding up the entire process.
I save about two hours of my day when I am pushing through RFIs and submittals. Also, the change order process is very fast and it helps me stay on top of what items are still overdue. That helps remind me of what money I still need to collect. That daily two-hour time-savings really adds up over the course of a week or month.
The best features are RFIs and submittals. I like the fact that the daily log includes automatic weather logs. However, for our business -- a marine construction firm -- I wish that tide and swell indication was available too.
I think the price is just a little high, but then again I did not include the Procore pricing into my project budget. The program is very, very great though!
I send those emails to Procore all the time! I ask for lots of little things and some larger requests, such as the inclusion of tide and swell data.
I don't use the punch list, the old submittal tab and meetings because they're unnecessary for my responsibilities. I don't use the transmittals tab yet, but I would like to. Transmittal tabs let you create a transmittal to log the sending of project documents from one project team member to another.
Everyone and anyone. This is a great tool for people and businesses that need a construction project management tool.
To get the most out of Procore, users should be a little more than a beginner, but they don't need to be much more than that. Setting up cost codes is a bit tricky, but then again I am not a beginner.
Nope. There were just a few things that took a couple of phone calls from me to Procore to figure out my question.
Yes. The phone support is very good: They quickly got me the answers I needed.
I have not used it.
Yes.
