Smart Contractor, created by Smart Construction Software, is an integrated construction project management and accounting system designed for general construction and sub-trade contractors in residential and commercial construction in the US, Canada, Australia and the UK.
Smart Contractor's job estimating application allows users to estimate and track item costs separately by materials, labor, equipment and subcontract; estimate labor costs by hours per unit or dollars per unit, and list estimates in a structure that allows each item to be broken down to several levels of sub items. Additionally, the job estimating application provides allowance tracking, which lets users automatically track allowances, generate allowance schedules and report allowance variances based on estimated versus actual costs, said the vendor.
The construction scheduling application offers features such as Critical Path Method (CPM) schedules, which are automatically created from the estimate, a schedule that automatically adjusts when changes are made and job site inspection schedules.
Smart Contractor's accounting application offers users the ability to automatically generate vendor and subcontractor quote requests for items in the job estimate; to print or email purchase orders; to automatically generate change orders, invoices and bank draw requests; to enter payment receipts, and to track accounts receivable.
Smart Contractor construction project management software allows users to print job a variety of documents, including allowance schedules, change orders, AIA G702/G703 draw requests, progress reports, site photos, fixed sum contracts, allowance variances and estimate and proposals. All these documents can be customized, said the vendor.
Smart Contractor is tightly integrated with QuickBooks software and can share all data with QuickBooks, the vendor said. Smart Contractor offers a free demonstration video on its site.
