MII-PTC COST ESTIMATING SOFTWARE OVERVIEW

Construction firms working with or for the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) should be very familiar with Micro-Computer Aided Cost Estimating System (MCACES), Second Generation (MII), since the USACE has standardized construction cost estimating on this application. MII was developed by Project Time & Cost Inc. (PT&C) in conjunction with USACE.

MII is one of several modules that make up Tri-Services Automated Cost Engineering System (TRACES), an integrated suite of cost estimating and engineering tools. The solution, which consists of both software and databases, currently is used by many USACE districts and soon will be mandatory for USACE and architect engineering firms performing design work for the Corps.

In addition to its development work, PT&C provides MII training at its corporate offices in Atlanta or at customers' sites. Courses include a four-day MII Basic and MII Advanced lesson series as well as MII Refresher, a two-day program.

MII version 2.2.1 became available in 2005. New or improved features in this cost estimating software include a flexible, user-defined estimate organizer, as well as multiple views of available estimates, according to PT&C.
