Company Overview
Viewpoint Construction Software got its start in 1976 as Advanced Business Computers, providing accounting solutions to customers in the Pacific Northwest. The company began focusing solely on construction software in the late 1970s and, shortly thereafter, released one of the first construction-specific solutions that integrated construction estimating and job cost accounting software. Today Viewpoint software, the latest release of which is called V6, is designed for a variety of contractors, including general, specialty and subcontractors, heavy/highway and enterprise.

For general contractors, Viewpoint's V6 integrates a variety of functions including accounting management, construction project management, operations and document management. V6 offers web collaboration, referred to as Viewpoint V6 Software Connects, to help users move through their decision cycles. Connects uses a continuously updated website that serves as a central information center where those involved can receive the most up-to-date information on the project at hand. Additionally, the website allows project managers to remotely manage documents such as change orders or subcontractor pay requests, the vendor said.
Furthermore, V6 offers flexible progress and T&M (time and material) billing, which aids specialty contractors and subcontractors in completing jobs ranging from labor-intensive projects to small service jobs, said the vendor.
To meet the needs of heavy/highway contractors, Viewpoint software provides users with an integrated solution for managing enterprise assets, operations and profitability, as well as a library of reports and inquiries unique to heavy/highway contractors.
V6 works for larger construction firms, also known as enterprises, with benefits such as support for more than 100 users in different locations, stable control on data integrity, audit trails and business processes and flexible software configuration options, said the vendor. In addition, V6 provides users with tools to consolidate data from several different operations or financial systems and capabilities for analyzing administrative and corporate expenses.
Viewpoint software is built on the Microsoft .NET Framework and SQL Server.
