Contractors grappling with federal and state prevailing wage laws can save time and meet mandates by using software specifically designed to meet both their industry and certified payroll requirements.

Sunburst Software Solutions Inc. thus developed Certified Payroll Solution, a QuickBooks-integrated application that features electronic filing of certified payroll reports and is compatible with a range of labor compliance software from vendors such as LCPtracker, TRS Consultants, Elation Systems and Sandia National Laboratories. Benefits include faster payment and time savings on compliance, as well as the generation of accurate, timely and legible certified payroll reports, according to Sunburst Software.

Certified Payroll eliminates the need for duplicate data entry, thereby reducing errors. In addition, by automating the formerly manual creation of certified payroll reports, contractors' accounting departments can be more productive and effective, Sunburst Software stated. Certified Payroll also includes information not typically found in a company's QuickBooks' database, but links both sources of data to create one integrated certified payroll report or record, the vendor said.

A company license for Certified Payroll starts at $375; the application can be downloaded onto multiple computers. Certified Payroll comes with the company's Wage Manager Solution, which manages multiple employees, payroll wage items and pay rates.
