Projectmates by Systemates

The Projectmates suite, which includes more than 40 modules for the design, construction and retail industries, is designed to simplify project management by tracking tasks, handling changes and reporting changes. Through a Web browser, project teams can share drawings, documents, meeting minutes, discussions, budgets and invoices, among other items.

Simply Accounting by Sage

Simply Accounting is Sage's accounting software designed specifically for Canadian companies. It comes in five editions.

First Step: This is the most basic level of Simply Accounting and was previously known as Entrepreneur. Its capabilities include essentials such as writing checks, preparing invoices and storing financial history. It can also switch from English to French.

QuickMeasure by Tally Systems

Windows-based QuickMeasure takeoff software allows a construction estimator to perform takeoffs from blueprints. By simply clicking on the desired measuring function (Line, Area, Segment, or Count) and touching the digitizer pen to the blueprint, QuickMeasure displays a picture of exactly what has been measured and stores it as a digitized graphic. Construction estimators can print this picture or store it on a CPU for future reference, the vendor said.

Foundation for Windows by Foundation Software

Foundation for Windows address many of a firm's accounting needs, including job costing, payroll, general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchase orders and sub contracts. It also features a customizable report and form designer and a CPA audit and review dashboard.

QuickMeasure OnScreen by Tally Systems

QuickMeasure OnScreen, also based on Windows and offering an Excel-based interface, lets a construction estimator perform takeoffs directly from an image displayed on a computer screen. By clicking on the image displayed on the screen, the solution generates area, lengths and count measurements. Quantities are accumulated in the QuickMeasure OnScreen application or can be sent directly to a user's existing Excel spreadsheet, according to the vendor.
