Company Overview
Avatech Solutions Inc. has developed software specifically for building information modeling (BIM) and building design. The cornerstones of its building design business are Revit Architecture, Revit Structure and Revit MEP. All are built on Revit, which is Autodesk's BIM software platform. The company also provides a number of Revit plug-in utilities for tasks such as renumbering rooms, changing door markers or connecting building plans to Google Earth.
Avatech also offers applications for fields such as civil engineering, mapping, facilities management and product data management.

Revit MEP
Revit MEP is a design application for mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) professionals. Avatech's updated 2009 edition features the following:
- duct and pipe sizing/pressure calculations
- three-dimensional HVAC/electrical space design modeling software for ductwork and piping;
- interference checking, which coordinates building elements and systems during design in order to avoid collisions between elements
- lighting and power circuitry capabilities -- these do two things, the vendor said; one, they use circuits to track loads, monitor attached devices and verify circuit lengths, and two, they define wire types, voltage ranges, distribution systems and demand factors to prevent overloads and voltage mismatches
