CMiC CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE OVERVIEW


CMiC, Computer Methods International Corp., develops AEC (architecture, engineering and construction) project management software. The Toronto-based company has three product lines -- Enterprise, Project Management and Integration -- each with five software solutions. All software is built on the Oracle platform.

First there's CMiC Enterprise, which includes the following applications:

bullet CMiC Financials -- a financial and operational solution for medium- to large-sized construction projects that provides real-time information and performs accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets and general ledger tasks, according to the vendor.
 
bullet CMiC Projects -- an application used to track construction project progress through job costing and billing, subcontract management and change management modules
 
bullet CMiC Human Capital -- a human resource management solution that creates expense report templates, automates standard accounting practices and manages employee data
 
bullet CMiC Assets -- an application that monitors fixed assets and equipment through procurement management, inventory management, equipment costing and preventive maintenance functions
 
bullet CMiC CRM -- this software improve customer relationship management (CRM) through features such as sales force automation, proposal generation and subcontractor qualification management and service, according to the vendor
 

Next there's CMiC Project Management, which includes the following applications:

bullet CMiC Collaboration Manager -- a platform on which stakeholders can work together with project managers and contribute to the submittal process; the software is capable of tracking documents and meeting minutes, managing RFI processes and delivering transmittals, the vendor said
 
bullet CMiC Site Management -- this application provides a history of project details with materials receipts, timesheets, daily journals, payroll and field work directives
 
bullet CMiC Document Manager -- this construction project management system exchanges plans, documents, and communications throughout the design process; the program also stores CAD documents and allows users to add markups, attach documents to bid packages, detect project anomalies and track bonding, the vendor said
 
bullet CMiC Bid & Procurement Management -- an application that creates RFIs, bid packages and lists for material and subcontractor needs
 
bullet CMiC Cost & Budget Management -- this solution manages profitability by tracking expenses, setting up budgets, accessing budget structures and utilizing billing, accounts receivable and accounts payable data, according to the vendor
 

Finally there's CMiC Integration, which includes the following applications:

bullet CMiC Workflow -- a solution that controls operating costs by monitoring people, resources, activities and systems
bullet CMiC Business Intelligence -- this program turns operational data into information that can be used and analyzed to make business decisions; this information may then be filtered by user-defined portals and dashboards, the vendor said
 
bullet CMiC Mobile -- this feature allows access to project information from mobile devices
bullet CMiC Imaging -- in this application, users can create digital images and design the file systems in which to store them
 
bullet CMiC Interchange -- this system facilitates data sharing between clients, suppliers and partners, according to the vendor
 

In addition to its construction project management software, CMiC offers a client support system called CMiC DBA. This service provides technical support, proactive database maintenance and archive log management.
