Meridian unveils Prolog Converge, a Web platform for project delivery
Meridian Systems has lifted the sheet off its latest release, Prolog Converge, which will be available in November.
In an introductory webinar, recorded Sept. 30 and now available at the Meridian Information Library, Senior Director of Product Management Bruno Berti described Prolog Converge as a Web services platform powered by Meridian Prolog.
This platform is wrapped around Prolog Converge’s business logic layer. (In the traditional structure of a software application, the user interface and the business logic sit in separate tiers.) This means that users can interact with the data using the application that best suits them – for example, Microsoft Excel for project superintendents, Outlook for a project executive, a BIM system for an engineer or a Tablet PC for a field worker. Meridian Systems, to date, has 11 Office Business Applications, which help users build reports, RFIs and punchlists, among other tasks. (Several Meridian Systems partners have integrated their software with Prolog Converge as well.)
The interface of Prolog Converge itself, meanwhile, lets project administrators interact with and query data, view reports and dashboards, and set up notifications for a variety of events. Within the Projects tab, for example, an admin can create an RFI, defining who will receive it, adding relevant notes and attaching documents as needed. Saving that RFI will trigger Prolog Converge’s notification engine.
According to Meridian Systems, benefits of Prolog Converge include improved efficiency (thanks to software interoperability), more informed decision making (thanks to real-time field data as well as BIM data) and fewer missed deadlines (thanks to collaboration among team members).
