Finding QuickBooks advice on Twitter
QuickBooks’ name is almost self explanatory. Intuit developed this accounting software to help smaller businesses manage expenses and accounting without knowing much about, well, accounting – screens mimic basic forms such as checks and invoices and don’t require any extensive bookkeeping knowledge.
Whether you’ve already been sold on the software or you’re still unsure if you want to commit to QuickBooks, you can use Twitter to get answers to all your questions.
Twitter is an up-and-coming social networking tool that allows users to post thoughts and respond to others. Twitter allows users to “follow” other users whose tweets they are interested in reading, which appear on a home page feed. Each users' personal updates appear on their own page, which is located at http://twitter.com/username. So what’s the catch? Posts and user bios are limited to 140 characters, making posts short and sweet.
Believe it or not, a number of QuickBooks users are on Twitter. If you already have a Twitter account (or have been searching for an excuse to sign up), then you may want to check out these QuickBooks experts. (Shameless plug: You can also follow ConstructionSoftwareReview.com on Twitter.)
QuickBooks is the official Twitter account of QuickBooks and Intuit. The account mostly re-tweets (when a RT is placed before a tweet to indicate that they are reposting something another user posted earlier) things from the Intuit and IntuitDeals Twitter accounts.
It’s no surprise that QuickBooks_UK and QuickBooks_CA serve Twitter users in the United Kingdom and Canada, respectively. Their tweets are very similar to those of the main QuickBooks account but are great resources for British and Canadian users.
Although it’s not updated very much, QuickBooksMobl is dedicated to tweeters who use QuickBooks on their iPhone, Blackberry or other mobile devices.
Travis Waldron, who works on product development for Intuit, most often responds to users' questions about problems with QuickBooks.
Theresa Arnold, another Intuit employee on Twitter, is a Certified Payroll Professional who creates training programs on QuickBooks and Payroll. Her tweets are more casual and personal, which can be a nice touch. She posts lots of answers to user questions in addition to links and re-tweeted tips and information.
The QuickBooks Specialists have several Twitter accounts all dedicated to helping users. The firm's main account advertises QuickBooks, posts tips and offers free trials for various add-on programs for the accounting software. In addition, Kevin Kluge, Brandon Kluge and Ruth Perryman personally tweet for the QuickBooks Specialists; you can follow them for additional tips and trial offers.
Scott Gregory is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor who calls himself “the QuickBooks guy”. His Twitter page features lots of tips and links in addition to responses to user questions. His website, Bottom Line Accounting Solutions, and blog, Scott Gregory, QuickBooks Expert, are great resources as well.
Robert Guild is another certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor; he runs his own website and Quickbooks training lab, which is called QuickBooks Coach and is based in Austin, Texas. His tweets mostly consist of posting links with a few personal anecdotes splashed in, and he hasn’t updated in a few months. Guild’s blog, however, is featured on AllBusiness.com and is well worth checking out.
addQin creates additional tools and add-ons for QuickBooks. Its Twitter account mostly advertises its products and website but may be working poking around. Warning: They tweet. A lot.
Finally, MyQBi is run by a Singaporean who has used QuickBooks since 1998 and runs a blog called QuickBooks Asia. Although his English isn't always perfect, it’s interesting to get the perspective of somebody working with QuickBooks internationally.
